    Job Title: Public Safety Sergeant
    Location: Easton Town Center - Columbus, OH
    Schedule: Full-Time Nights & Weekends Required
    Reports To: Public Safety / Center Leadership

    Job Summary

    Under general supervision, the Public Safety Sergeant oversees and manages public safety personnel and operations to ensure a safe environment for people and property at Easton Town Center. This role is responsible for supervision, training, scheduling, emergency response, investigations, coordination with local agencies, and the overall effectiveness of assigned shifts.

    This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for experienced public safety or security professionals ready to take the next step.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervision & Leadership

    • Supervise, schedule, and evaluate Public Safety staff

    • Approve time off and make recommendations for hiring, discipline, or dismissal

    • Train new team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs)

    • Maintain proper staffing coverage (includes overtime/shift changes)

    • Monitor officer and dispatcher performance for quality and compliance

    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections

    Operations & Incident Response

    • Lead day-to-day public safety operations for assigned shift

    • Conduct roll calls to share critical information

    • Assign patrols (foot, vehicle, special events)

    • Review reports and daily logs for completeness

    • Respond to all injury-related incidents on shift

    • Enforce Easton Town Center Code of Conduct

    • Address and resolve guest, tenant, and employee concerns

    • Escalate critical incidents to leadership as needed

    • Coordinate with CPD special duty officers for effective deployment

    • Act as liaison with law enforcement, firefighters, and other agencies

    • Ensure proper operation of safety equipment (CCTV, radios, etc.)

    Administrative Duties

    • Prepare accurate incident and activity reports

    • Coordinate training (CPR, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, etc.)

    • Maintain training and compliance records

    • Manage CPD special detail sign-in/out logs

    • Support ongoing staff development and policy adherence

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Strong leadership and team management capabilities

    • Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure

    • Excellent communication (written and verbal)

    • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

    • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail

    Education & Experience

    • Must be at least 21 years of age

    • Valid driver's license required

    • High School Diploma or GED required

    • College coursework or degree preferred

    • 2-3 years in a public safety or security leadership role preferred

    • Retail, hospitality, or mixed-use facility experience preferred

    • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

    Physical Requirements

    • Stand/walk for extended periods

    • Climb stairs, ramps, and ladders as needed

    • Bend, kneel, and twist occasionally

    • Lift up to 50 pounds as required

    • Work both indoors and in varying outdoor conditions

    • Must be able to communicate clearly in English
