    Job DescriptionJob Description

    The Brewster Police Department is seeking qualified, motivated candidates for the position of Civilian Dispatcher. This is a critical public safety role responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and dispatching police calls while providing essential support to officers and the community.

    Position Summary

    Under the supervision of the shift commander and administrative lieutenant, the civilian dispatcher serves as the primary point of contact for police-related calls. Dispatchers play a vital role in ensuring the rapid, accurate, and professional coordination of police services, contributing directly to the protection of life and property.


    Work Schedule Requirements

    • Must be available to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays
    • Position operates on a 4 & 2 schedule (four days on, two days off)
    • Flexibility is required to meet the operational needs of a 24/7 public safety communications center


    Work Environment & Physical Requirements

    • Fast-paced communications center with frequent interruptions
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use communication equipment for extended periods
    • Requires strong visual and auditory attention to detail
    • Must remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations


    Benefits

    • Health Insurance - The Town contributes 75% of HMO & PPO health insurance premiums.
    • Paid Time Off - Sick, Personnel, Holiday, and Vacation time - The Town will recognize previous municipal, state, or government service for the purposes of determining vacation time accruals.

    • The Town will match up to two weeks paid parental leave
