    Job Description

    Position Summary

    This position increases the state’s ability to respond to legislation for the Choosing Childbirth Act by identifying needs at the state and community level that impact providing services, education and resources to pregnant women or women who believe they may become pregnant to make informed decisions regarding the choice of adoption or parenting with respect to their children and to maximize their potential thereafter, up to age three.

    Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions
    • Observed the collection and cleaning of data
    • Review of state and national data resources
    • Brainstorm and review creative visual aids, such as charts, graphs, animations, slideshows, and other presentation formats
    • Observe and map collaboration with partners, resources, researchers, and other related participants in the Choosing Childbirth Grant
    • Identify opportunities to improve and automate dashboard and visualization solutions utilizing new technology
    • Support the synchronization of project outlines, scope of work, and grant programming utilizing administrative skills
    • Being present in the office is an essential function of the job.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience

    Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in health science, Social Science, Behavioral Science, Public Relations, Data and Research, Public Health, and Health Promotion.

    Valued Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge is required of current trends, best practices in early childhood and maternal health; of state/federal regulations, policies, and procedures; and of relevant technology, applying software tools in virtual meetings, cloud-based systems, managing grants, and developing online reports.

    Skills required include auditing, planning, and organizational skills with attention to detail; strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills; time management skills; analytical, and problem-solving.

    Ability is required to apply a proactive approach and work independently while consistently meeting deadlines; function collaboratively as a team player with people of varied backgrounds, along with a range of other agencies, to deliver quality programs and services; prioritize tasks and delegate where necessary; function well in a high-paced environment; display conscientious commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consistent, and efficient customer service through the performance of the prescribed job duties; analyze grant proposals and manage budgets in accordance with applicable rules, guidelines, and laws.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    Assignment is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties, intern may be required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Must be willing to complete all travel associated with this internship.
