Public Affairs Coordinator
The Public Affairs Coordinator is a member of a collaborative public affairs team. The
Public Affairs Coordinator supports the Public Affairs department in advancing Essential Access
Health's mission, strategic priorities, and policy agenda. The ideal candidate has strong
communication skills, a passion for reproductive health equity, and is comfortable working in a
fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
The salary for this position is $75,000. This position can be based in our Los Angeles or Bay Area
office with a hybrid work schedule.
SPECIFIC DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Draft and disseminate action alerts, policy updates, fact sheets, and e-newsletters
• Monitor federal, state (California + Hawaii) and local policy (as needed) and legislative
developments relevant to sexual and reproductive health, and prepare summaries, briefs,
public comments, and template or draft letters for internal and external audiences
• Maintain legislative priority tracking sheets and documents
• Assist in coordinating and implementing stakeholder, partner, community and youth
engagement and outreach activities including events, meetings, focus groups, round
tables and town halls
• Help maintain the organization's contact management system. Keep contact information
and lists clean and up to date
• Represent the organization in coalition meetings and spaces
• Identify outreach opportunities and conduct outreach activities as needed to advance
department and organization's strategic priorities and policy agenda
• Develop Public Affairs and policy presentations, surveys, and polls
• Collaborate with the Communications Specialist and other Public Affairs and department
team members to create content development for social media platforms, websites,
advocacy and awareness campaigns
• Develop, distribute, and coordinate printing of materials and merch, and order supplies as
needed to support Essential Access programs and advocacy priorities
• Organize Public Affairs department materials and documents, and provide other
administrative support to the Vice President of Public Affairs and to support public affairs
functions
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned and required by the Public Affairs
department

• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in public policy, advocacy,
communications, or a related field - especially in health, social justice, or community based work preferred
• Educational background in political science, communications, marketing, or a related field
- or equivalent lived or professional experience
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with close attention to detail (writing
samples may be requested)
• Effective verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse
audiences
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet
deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Familiarity with media, social media, and the current political landscape, particularly as it
relates to reproductive health and equity
• Flexible and adaptable, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to shift priorities in
a fast-paced setting
• Experience with digital platforms and graphic design tools, or a willingness to learn
• Willingness to travel occasionally (within the state or region) for events or meetings
