Major Duties

Under general supervision of the Director of College Advising (DCA), the Coordinator of EOP and College Advising Services:

• Provides comprehensive academic advisement for all students assigned to College of Arts, Media, and Communication (CAMC) Student Services Center/Educational Opportunity Program (SSC/EOP).
• Coordinates activities related to monitoring EOP student transition and academic progress including, but not limited to, follow-up with students and responses to faculty alerts.
• Assists the DCA and Student Services Professional IV (SSP IV) with the coordination, planning, and implementation of first year advisement for all incoming first-time freshmen and transfers.
• Represents the SSC/EOP satellite and CAMC at on and off-campus events, recruitment activities, and on university committees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field.
• Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related, is preferred.
• Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience; including one year in Student Services preferred.
• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
• Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of academic advisement practices and student development principles.
• Ability to analyze student records and recommend appropriate academic actions.
• Skill in developing student success plans and intervention strategies.
• Ability to coordinate programs and manage multiple advising initiatives.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse student populations.
• Ability to interpret and apply university policies and procedures.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

• The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
• Classification: 3084 / SSP III/ Grade 1
• The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5540 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5,540 - $7,893 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
• This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
• The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
