OPEN UNTIL FILLED, APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELYDuties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties of this position are performed in both an office and field environment, which include but are not limited to: planning/scheduling/monitoring daily maintenance operations in assigned area; establishing job priorities and timelines for tasks and activities; actively working in the field to lead, supervise, and train assigned crew members, including providing hands-on guidance, conducting performance evaluations, coaching and counseling, and administering disciplinary actions as necessary; supervising usage, care, and preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools; maintaining and ordering materials and supplies; estimating the cost of proposed maintenance projects; ensuring that all administrative paperwork is filled out and submitted in a timely manner; and performing other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification. May be designated to report to work during hazardous weather or emergency conditions.
Minimum QualificationsPosition requires a high school diploma (or GED) supplemented by three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the drainage maintenance and repair field with two years at a supervisory level, and/or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the techniques and procedures used in maintenance and repair of open and closed stormwater drainage systems and the ability to adapt/apply this knowledge to resolve issues is required. Knowledge in the use and care of loader/backhoe and farm tractors with mowing decks; knowledge in the use and care of chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and various other small power tools. The ability to work in adverse weather conditions and respond to emergency/disaster recovery situations. Must have the following certification or the ability to obtain them within six (6) months of employment: SC Pesticide Applicators License. Computer knowledge and experience required. Must have valid SC Driver's License and clean driving record.
