POSITION OVERVIEWApplications accepted from: All Persons InterestedService line/ Section: Houston Water/ Regulatory Compliance and Utility Development (RCUD) Reporting Location: 611 Walker Street, 18th Floor Workdays & Hours: M - F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.**Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Contract Administrator position will perform professional work in the creation and administration of water supply, wastewater, and groundwater reduction program contracts.
Key Responsibilities • Processes applications and administers treated and untreated water supply contracts, groundwater reduction program contracts, and wastewater management contracts.
• Manages and maintains Master List of contracts and contacts.
• Corresponds with internal and external customers.
• Creates and submits related periodic reports.
• Coordinates with other City departments on issues related to processing contract documents.
• Researches contract issues and prepares information relating to contracts, agreements and practices; drafts correspondence to various individuals relating to established agreements.
• Tracks the contract process.
• Processes invoice payments
WORKING CONDITIONS There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Management position at the Tier II Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Government or closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years of contract compliance or other related professional analytical compliance experience are required.
Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERENCESPreference will be given to applicants with knowledge of water utility contracting experience.
**Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
