Solid Waste
Makes and receives calls on telephone and two-way radio equipment to coordinate communications between office and field units.
Records drivers call-ins, schedules paid bulk pickup, and bulk amnesty pickups.
Receives information requests from customers and dispatch appropriate service orders to fulfil requests.
Provides updates to customers and responds to inquiries by composing letters, email, and by phone.
Coordinates the routing and scheduling of a fleet of waste collection vehicles.
Send out price checks to supervisor and schedule accordingly.
Receives customer complaints regarding solid waste matters and refers complaint to the appropriate person(s) for resolution.
Process payments through BS&A for paid bulk pick up.
Other duties assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess or have ability to possess and maintain valid Georgia driver's license; must be willing to learn and demonstrate the ability to operate radio equipment, computer and telephone.
Knowledge of radio and other electronic transmitting techniques and procedures related to the dispatch of vehicular equipment.
Knowledge of maps, routes and service areas.
Knowledge of record keeping procedures such as Excel and Word.
Knowledge of database management.
Knowledge of City rules, regulations and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in dealing with the public.
Skill in operating a multi-channel base radio.
Skill in identifying and understanding citizen complaints and problems.
Ability to perform general administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative.
Ability to understand the organization and operation of the city and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
Ability to carry out verbal and written assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively with office, field and supervisory personnel.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Solid Waste/Sanitation Director.
Guidelines include the City and departmental safety manuals and policies and procedures; City Code of Ordinances, and employee handbook.
The work consists of problem-solving, settling customer disputes and complaints, and managing route software.
The purpose of this position is to provide operational support to the Solid Waste/Sanitation Department.
Contacts are typically with co-workers, the public and other City employees.
Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
The work is typically performed with the employee sitting at a desk with intermittent standing or walking. The employee occasionally lifts to ten (10) pounds.
Work is performed in an indoor environment where the employee is exposed to minimal noise.
