    Join The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office

    The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is seeking Patrol Deputies to serve and protect our communities through a professional, community-focused approach to law enforcement. This is a dynamic role for individuals who are reliable, level-headed, and ready to take on meaningful responsibility.

    What You'll Earn
    • Starting pay: $32.15/hour+ (based on experience)
    • Full-time (40 hours) + full benefits
    • Shift differentials & stipends available

    Additional Pay Incentives:

    • Military Service Stipend: +$0.25/hour (4+ years active duty, honorable discharge)
    • Certified officers (BLETP/academy):
      • $6,000 sign-on bonus
      • Up to 15 years lateral credit (pay + time off)
    What You'll Do
    • Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls for service
    • Enforce federal, state, and local laws
    • Conduct traffic stops, investigations, and arrests
    • Respond to disturbances and emergency situations
    • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects
    • Gather evidence and complete detailed reports
    • Build relationships with community members through proactive policing

    What You Need
    • Age 21 (or 20 with 60 college credits)
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Valid Maine driver's license
    • Must reside in Maine within 15 miles of Cumberland County
    • Ability to pass a background investigation
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
