    Job Title: Locum to Perm Physician Oncology Practice Setting: Free-Standing Cancer Center Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician specializing in Medical Oncology to provide locum coverage with the potential for a permanent position. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering comprehensive cancer care in a supportive and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide outpatient and inpatient medical oncology services, managing a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards to formulate and review treatment plans. Prescribe and oversee chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments, collaborating closely with Nurse Oncologists and ancillary staff. Manage patients requiring bone marrow transplants and oversee related procedures. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies using the electronic medical record system (EPIC). Contribute to blood bank management and support complex cases involving hematologic malignancies. Provide inpatient care, including rounding and consultation, approximately 20 patients daily; see an average of 25 outpatient patients per day. Flexibility to assume call responsibilities once transitioned to a permanent role, typically scheduled every 6-8 weeks (no call during locum period). Minimum Qualifications: Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution. Board certification or eligibility in Medical Oncology. Valid medical license to practice in South Carolina. Experience managing adult and geriatric oncology patients. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the EPIC EMR system. Additional Details: Practice boasts a team of 7 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The practice includes a mix of benign hematology (65%) and malignant oncology (35%), with no internal medicine cases. Commitment to patient-centered care with a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration. Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days.
