    The Department of Emergency Medicine within the University of Missouri, School of Medicine is a dynamic, rapidly expanding department, with multiple opportunities to provide high-quality care to patients throughout Missouri. Our highly skilled Advanced Practice Professionals currently provide care in numerous clinical settings including MU Health Care's Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, several rural Community Emergency departments, Urgent Care facilities, ED Observation unit, and the Occupational Medicine clinic. Our process is to deliver the best care in the least amount of time to ensure all patients served receive excellent and compassionate care as fast and as smooth as possible.
    Responsibilities may include:
    • Work collaboratively with physicians and assist in a multidisciplinary practice for the treatment of emergency related diagnosis.
    • Perform essential and urgent patient care functions.
    • Assist in the clinical processes of Urgent Care.
    • Assist in the evaluation and management of Urgent Care patients in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to determine health status, intervention, and referrals.
    • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
    • Maintain the standards of medical support services and implement the policies and procedures of our hospitals, departments, facilities, units, and clinics served.
    • Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.
    • Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
    • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
    • Evaluate current research and apply findings clinically, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
    This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.
    This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year depending on location. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
