    Job Description

    Looking for an excellent career opportunity in a beautiful setting, close to nature while enjoying no state income tax? RESPEC, a recognized North American engineering consulting firm seeks a Fire Protection EIT to join our engineering team in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a fantastic opportunity to help design, implement, and maintain fire protection systems to safeguard our clients' facilities and personnel. You will integrate with multidisciplinary engineering teams in various regions to develop comprehensive fire safety plans, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.

    This is an onsite, office-based position in Anchorage, AK.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Works on multiple projects simultaneously, proactively collaborating with team members and clients to resolve technical challenges
    • Document fire protection design requirements in engineering reports and feasibility studies.
    • Supports other market sectors on design projects as workload dictates
    • Prepares clear and concise written communications and participate in client and team meetings
    • Conducts site visits across Alaska to review and document facilities and project progress
    • Assist in designing fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, and smoke control systems.
    • Provide construction support, review submittals, and conduct acceptance testing.
    • Support senior engineers in project planning and execution.
    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field, from an ABET-accredited program.
    • Passed the FE exam, and eligible to apply for EIT certification through the Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors, working towards PE licensure.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire protection engineering or a related field.
    • Knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations.
    • Experience in fire protection design software and tools
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel)
    • Developed technical writing and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to travel to other locations within Alaska as needed for client/project needs.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel

    Preferred qualifications include the following:

    AutoCAD and REVIT 3D experience
