    • Salary: $48,000 per year

    • Schedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday- Friday

    • Location: 60 Lafayette Street Room 3A1 in New York City

    Primary Purpose of Job:

    The Peer Mentor's primary job responsibilities are to provide peer support, advocacy, and linkage services to individuals enrolled in the program. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and be willing to use their lived experience to help others who are seeking recovery from substance use issues. The Peer Mentor will work as a fully integrated team member providing culturally responsive peer recovery support services to individuals in the Brooklyn misdemeanor treatment court program.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    • The Peer Mentor will provide support for individuals enrolled in the Manhattan Diversion Court programs that are having difficulty connecting to services.

    • Provide a peer-to-peer relationship to support individuals in recovery and family members with sustaining recovery and overall wellness so they can achieve their goals with in-person visits at the office, or in the community and/or telehealth services.

    • Assist program staff with implementation of treatment goals to help individuals achieve their goals.

    • Willing to escort participants to treatment providers and appointments as needed.

    • Utilize program assessment tools to monitor the client's mental health/substance use and care needs.

    • Provide information and referrals to individuals and families for social and recovery support services, counseling, and linkages to prevention and treatment.

    • Provide harm reduction education, such as Narcan kits, Fentanyl/Xylazine strips, and other information to enrolled individuals.

    • Participate in supervision and team meetings; participate in agency trainings and workshops, and other trainings.

    • Prepare and maintain client case records and statistics as required by the standards set by EAC grant guidelines.

    • Document in the NYS Unified Court system program all services provided to participants and maintain all aspects of documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    • Be willing to facilitate peer run groups.

    • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

    • Minimum of High School Diploma or educational equivalent required

    • NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or Peer credential preferred

    • Lived experience in substance use and have knowledge of the criminal justice system.

    • Good written and verbal communication.

    • Must possess computer skills and the ability to navigate the electronic health record (EHR).

    • Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery process.

    • Understand the therapeutic benefit of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

    • Able to work with diverse populations (ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc.).

    • Demonstrate commitment to providing quality services and adhering to outcome driven performance measures.
