Responsibilities:
Research Security Risk Assessment and Analysis
• Review open source intelligence in response to entity check requests from Legal, Strategic Industry Ventures, Office of Technology Commercialization, and other internal departments. • Apply analytical skills and independent judgment to assess research security risks and document findings.
Faculty, Researcher, and Activity Reviews
• Facilitate research security risk reviews related to new faculty hires, federal and state funded awards, international travel, and other activities when deemed appropriate. • Conduct reviews of faculty and researcher international outside activities to identify potential research security risks.
Compliance and Risk Mitigation
• Identify and help mitigate risks to the university related to research security activities. • Foster compliance with university, state, and federal regulations, policies, and requirements related to U.S. government research funding.
Program Knowledge and Continuous Improvement
• Maintain knowledge of evolving research security program requirements and best practices. • Participate in the national research security community to stay informed of changes in federal and state regulations and agency policies.

Education: Required: Bachelor's Degree. Preferred: Master's Degree
Experience: Required: Two years sponsored research, conflicts of interest, research integrity, international relations, or national security. Preferred: Experience conducting open source intelligence reviews and research security risk assessments within an academic, healthcare, or government research environment, including evaluating international affiliations.
