    Job Posting

    Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the Fire Inspector performs inspections, plan reviews, fire prevention, public education, and community risk reduction activities to ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. This position also assists with fire investigations, responds to emergency calls as assigned, and may serve as Fire Marshal in their absence.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Three (3) years of progressive fire service experience
    • Valid driver's license

    Certifications

    • NFPA Firefighter I & II certification (NFPA 1001) or equivalent
    • Current EMR or EMT certification
    • Fire Inspector I Certification (MN or IFSAC), or obtainable within 6 months
    • Fire Inspector II Certification (MN or IFSAC), or obtainable within 24 months
    • IAAI Fire Investigation Technician Certification (or equivalent), or obtainable within 12 months
    • Fire Apparatus Operator Certification (MN or IFSAC), or obtainable within 18 months
