    CADET ROOM INSTRUCTOR

    Job Description

    Purpose: The purpose of the Cadet Room program is to provide social maturation services for Boys & Girls Clubs' members 7-9 years old. This is accomplished through the implementation of a weekly program plan that includes tournaments and contests, group goal-setting, secret file folders, motivational/participatory programs and other various planned program activities. The Cadet Room program emphasizes building a positive self-image in youngsters. Informal counseling, both individually and in groups, occurs daily in the Cadet Room.

    Job Segments: Program Related - In order to provide a quality experience for Boys & Girls Clubs' members, Cadet Room instructors are expected to plan a program which includes:
    1. To conduct tournaments or contests daily.
    2. To conduct table games and improvised games daily.
    3. Low-organized "for fun" contests daily.
    4. File folder activity twice weekly.
    5. Simple crafts project weekly.
    6. Group goal-setting club meeting weekly.
    7. Group goal-setters reward activity weekly.
    8. Second group club which meets weekly.
    9. Motivational contest daily, as provided in the Program Prescription.
    10. Activity sheets utilized daily.
    11. Supervised free play.
    The above program activities should reflect specific age groups and boy/girl/coed opportunities.

    Non-Program Related - In addition to program duties, Cadet Room instructors are expected to:
    1. Maintain attractive, up-to-date bulletin boards and displays, including a display of weekly program and members-of-the-month.
    2. Post and be knowledgeable of building emergency procedures.
    3. Secure area at all times when Cadet Room is not open.
    4. Supervise members in hallways and areas adjacent to Cadet Room.
    5. Maintain equipment and make minor repairs.
    6. At closing, stack chairs and clean area.
