    Fellowship Duration The Superior Court Fellow is an at-will limited-term position for a set duration not to exceed eighteen (18) months.

    Telework/On-Site Opportunity This position is eligible for a limited combination of telework and on-site work assignments. Telework must be completed from a pre-designated home-based location within the State of California, and employees may be required to report on-site to address business needs. Telework is at the sole discretion of the Court and may be rescinded with 48 hours' notice, based on the needs of the Orange County Superior Court.

    About The Position The Superior Court Fellow performs professional-level analytical, administrative, research, or program support duties to assist court management with conducting research, analyzing policies and procedures, and supporting programs, special projects, system testing, and operational initiatives. The position prepares reports and presentations, evaluates and researches court-related issues to provide support and recommendations. The Superior Court Fellow communicates and coordinates assigned activities with various units, provides responsible and complete professional support to higher-level management staff, and performs related tasks within the area of assignment.

    The Superior Court Fellow classification is a limited-term entry-level professional classification not linked to any job series. The position typically works under the direction of higher-level management staff and does not provide supervision to lower-level staff. The Superior Court Fellow must exercise good judgment, have influence and expertise to formulate recommendations and administer plans, policies, and programs in support of the assigned unit's goals and objectives. The position can support any functional areas of the court to develop and implement plans that impact workflow and productivity. The Superior Court Fellow may conduct program and operational analysis that supports project management; demonstrates leadership and collaboration with various units of the court.

    Duties for the classification may include, but are not limited to: Assumes analytical, administrative, research, or program/project support duties and responsibilities as a continuation of the Judicial Fellowship Program; assignments and tasks may vary depending on the unit and the scope of court needs. Provides assigned management with accurate information, alternatives, and recommendations by gathering and analyzing both current and historical data; identifies trends; explains processes and techniques; monitors information and evaluates/recommends possible courses of action and outcomes; and recommends plans to affect workflow and productivity. Under the direction of leadership, guides planning and project management efforts to ensure strategic, operational, and other applicable policies and procedures are followed; participates in project management plans, project scopes, timelines, and evaluations; collaborates with leaders and staff within the assigned unit(s) on performance measures; and reviews regular and ad hoc reports and understands analysis. Verifies, coordinates, and leads project controls by establishing and monitoring compliance with schedules; consolidates data from various resources for analysis and reporting of variances to ensure quality. Reviews policy recommendations on special projects or highly visible issues by analyzing current practices, processes, and data; prepares management reports by compiling, evaluating, interpreting, and reporting on current and projected results and progress. Participates in the development and delivery of training applicable to an assigned project, as well as the maintenance and creation of policies and procedures; joins meetings where key changes affecting project training and written procedures are discussed.

    Minimum Qualifications Required Education Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in any related field. *Note: A copy of your college diploma or official transcripts must be included with your application. Required Experience Current participant in the Judicial Fellows Program offered by the Judicial Council of California within the past year, and six (6) months of experience actively working for the Judicial Council of California or a California court in a fellowship capacity. Highly Desirable Experience Experience supporting the implementation of new technology and initiatives that transform operational services.
