The Team You'll Work With: The Mayor's Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long-term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers, and we are building a City that works for all of us.
The Problems You'll Solve: The Deputy Commissioner will:
About You:
You are passionate about ensuring that the public has a voice in the development and implementation of government policies and processes. You are a motivated self-starter who can manage complicated projects with minimal guidance. You are excellent at time management. You are an enthusiastic collaborator.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience in government and/or organizing centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or - High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in government and/or organizing centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or - Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- You are excellent at collaboration and building and maintaining a wide array of working relationships. - You have a high level of skill in clear and open communication. - You have experience organizing mass participation campaigns. - You have experience as a manager, especially managing organizers and supporting a large team.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
