    Senior Consultant

    Artemis is seeking a full-time Senior Consultant to serve as a clinical subject matter expert (SME) supporting a large-scale, nationwide business transformation, health care focused project for the federal government. This role provides expert guidance in transfusion medicine, blood product compatibility, and international blood system comparability. The Consultant SME supports clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, expeditionary blood operations, and executive reporting to ensure the highest standards of blood safety and readiness across both garrison and deployed environments.

    The Senior Consultant role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience in management consulting and health care. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.

    This is a contingent hire position. The Senior Consultant will be required to work on-site in Falls Church, VA. Travel for meetings will be required.

    The expected compensation at the time of requisition creation, is between $110,000 and $130,000. The position offers with medical, dental and vision coverage. Additional benefits such as 401K, disability insurance and PTO are provided as well.

    Primary Responsibilities
    • Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Expertise. Provide expert guidance in blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing; advise leadership on transfusion medicine standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices; assess and report on blood product compatibility and donor eligibility criteria.
    • Foreign Nation Blood Comparability Assessments. Evaluate international blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution system; conduct country comparability assessments against U.S. standards; develop formal country comparability reports and executive summaries; track international blood regulations and maintain documentation of assessments; and represent the client in interagency and international working groups as required.
    • Expeditionary and Walking Blood Bank (WBB) Program Support. Support development and implementation of donor screening procedures; oversee testing processes, documentation, and quality control for WBB programs; develop and deliver training for blood collection, transfusion, and storage procedures; serve as a clinical point of contact for operational blood program stakeholders; assist with deployment planning and readiness support for expeditionary operations.
    • Quality and Regulatory Compliance. Ensure adherence to applicable U.S. and international regulatory requirements; maintain accurate documentation and reporting for leadership review; support continuous quality improvement initiatives across the blood enterprise.
    • Executive and Stakeholder Engagement. Prepare reports and briefings for senior military and civilian leadership; collaborate with Service Blood Program Officers, laboratory personnel, and operational units; communicate complex clinical findings clearly to non-clinical stakeholders.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • 3 years of experience as Clinical Laboratory Scientist required
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Hematology)
    • Relevant license or certification (e.g., American Medical Technologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, AABB, Specialist in Blood Banking, Technologist in Blood Banking, Qualification in Donor Phlebotomy), preferred
    • Demonstrated analytical skills with a strong aspect of transfusion medicine.
    • Ability to build relationships and manage expectations with diverse stakeholders.
    • Expertise in blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing, including an understanding of potential differences in practices between the U.S. and other countries.
    • Ability to assess different country blood supply chains, including collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities.
    • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to trends and technologies.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
    • Ability to manage competing deadlines.
    • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
    • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
