Summary
With general supervision from Testing and Inspecting (T&I) Manager or designee, the FM T&I Worker provides testing and inspecting services for fire protection systems. Campus systems include fire alarm, sprinkler and extinguishment equipment. The employee accomplishes this task through the coordination of services with their manager. Responsible for effectively maintaining key management. Perform whole building fire extinguisher swap outs including assisting with maintaining inventory to track those swap outs.
Subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet business needs.
The occupants of this position will be represented by Teamsters Local 317.

We require these qualifications:
- A.A.S. in Fire Science or High School Diploma with 3-years' experience equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of the NFPA and New York State Building Codes.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps and other emergency equipment that make up fire protection systems.
- Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate effectively with university faculty, staff, students and outside agencies and organizations.
- Must be able to use equipment and instrumentation that requires close concentration and visual attention.
- Must possess manual dexterity to be able to function on ladders, while wearing various protective equipment.
- Must have a valid US Driver's license and a good driving record.
- Employee must pass rigid background check prior to final appointment. Ongoing background or security checks may be required to comply with various regulatory or Security agencies.
- Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
- A.A.S. in Fire Protection and/or knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps and other emergency equipment that make up fire protection systems preferred.
