    Ldar Technician

    HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, in Roxana, IL is looking for an LDAR Technician to join their safety conscious team at a customer site! The LDAR Technician identifies, documents, and tags fugitive emissions (gas leaks) from industrial components like valves andpumps, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. They use specialized equipment—such as Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs/Method 21) or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras—to monitor, report, and facilitate repairs in refineries, chemical plants, and oil/gas sites. Ensure compliance with all Company policies/procedures and maintains/improves good customer relations by providing quality, timely industrial cleaning services.

    Work Schedule:

    • Monday-Thursday 4/10s OT available as needed by site.
    Responsibilities
    • Ensuring that Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies always, & processes & acting in a safe manner
    • Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling & pushing heavy objects.
    • Field Inspections: Perform routine, scheduled inspections of components (valves, connectors, pumps, tanks) to detect leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
    • Monitoring Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain analyzers (e.g., Flame Ionization Detectors - FID).
    • Data Management & Reporting: Record inspection data, tag leaking components, and manage inventory within databases like LeakDAS, GuideWare, SkyBridge
    • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Subpart 60) and strict site safety protocols.
    • Collaboration: Coordinate with maintenance teams to report leaks and verify repairs.
    • The role is physically active and often involves traveling to remote sites or working within complex, loud industrial environments. It is described as a detail-oriented, sometimes repetitive, but critical role for environmental protection.
    • Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Must be able to wear protective clothing or equipment. This includes, but is not limited to Nomex coveralls, a back belt, slicker suits, rubber boots, a fresh air breathing mask & escape pack & a hard hat.
    Qualifications

    What does it take to work for HPC-Industrial?

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Valid driver's license & clean driving record
    • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) - required or must obtain within 30 days of hire
    • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting & Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) (preferred).
    • Confined space entry & 40 Hour OSHA Training (preferred).
    • Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations (preferred).
    • Strong mechanical ability.
    • Must be able to wear 15 lb. backpack.
    • Working at heights is required.
    • Physical Stamina: Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding (sometimes up to 300 ft), and lift up to 50 lbs.
