Security Officer - Medical Facility | Rotating Day & Night Shifts | Lafayette, LA
Hiring full-time Security Officers for a medical facility in Lafayette, LA. Officers will help maintain a safe, professional environment for staff, patients, and authorized visitors through access control, patrols, and incident reporting.
This position follows a rotating schedule shared between 3 officers and includes weekday 13-hour overnight coverage along with rotating 12-hour weekend shifts.
Pay: $13.00/hr (weekly pay)
Schedule: Approximately 3 days per week | Every 3rd weekend off
Hours: Approximately 37-38 hours per week
Schedule Overview
- Monday-Friday: 5:00pm-6:00am coverage
- Weekends:24-hour coverage requiring both:
- 6:00am-6:00pm shifts
- 6:00pm-6:00am shifts
Job Duties- Monitor facility entrances, access points, and parking lots
- Conduct regular indoor and outdoor patrols
- Monitor cameras and report suspicious activity
- Assist staff, patients, and authorized visitors professionally
- Escort personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested
- Respond to incidents and complete detailed incident reports
- Communicate with dispatch and staff
- Address unauthorized individuals as appropriate by questioning, directing, or contacting law enforcement for assistance depending on the situation
- Complete all reports electronically using a smartphone or tablet
- Professional and welcoming demeanor
- Strong observation skills
- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable working rotating schedules
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a healthcare environment

Requirements:- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Pass background check and drug screen
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years old (as per applicable laws)
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using smartphones/tablets for reporting (no paper documentation)
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Must be able to meet healthcare facility onboarding requirements, including TB screening, annual flu vaccination, immunization documentation, and required HIPAA/CPI training
- COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required
