    THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated senior-level Marine Designer with experience in naval architecture and marine engineering for the design of ships and boats to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)'s Ship Design Team in Baltimore, MD. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with creating 3D drawings and models for ships and boats with a focus on hull structure and arrangements, as well as familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.

    This is a part-time position, anticipating approximately 10 hours per week.

    Typical Responsibilities:
    • Support naval architect and marine engineering efforts for the design of ships and boats, and the recapitalization of existing ships and boats.
    • Develop arrangement models and diagrams to support ship design and operation.
    • Create and modify CAD drawings of new and current systems for improvement.
    • Work with stakeholders to use software to build and test new system configurations.

    Location: Full remote permitted from most CONUS locations, or work onsite at USCG SFLC in Baltimore, MD.

    Travel:Travel is not anticipated for this position.

    Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

    Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $56 - 66/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.

    Eligibility for a SECRET Security Clearance is Required: This position requires eligibility for a Secret security clearance, to be obtained after hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • At least ten (10) years of experience creating 3D drawings with AutoCAD (or equivalent) software.
    • At least three (3) years of experience working with hull structure and arrangements.
    • Strong knowledge and skill in the use of the Autodesk AutoCAD software suite.
    • Proficient with common productivity software.
    • Strong communications skills.

    Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
    • Relevant professional certifications.
