As the Laboratory Supervisor of the Blood Bank at Newark Beth Israel, you will be a key member of the patient care team and collaborate with physicians and other clinical professionals to contribute to safe and effective care. As the Laboratory Supervisor of the Blood Bank at Newark Beth Israel, below are your key responsibilities:
- Day-to-day operational oversight of the Blood Bank / Transfusion Services
- Ensure safe, accurate, and timely provision of blood and blood components
- This role provides technical leadership, staff supervision, regulatory compliance oversight, and quality assurance in accordance with AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA, and hospital policies
- Perform or supervise complex immunohematology testing (ABO/Rh, antibody identification, crossmatching) and component modification (irradiation)
- Review records of blood testing, processing, and transfusion reactions; manage Occurrence Report Forms for process improvement
- Supervises duties related to record documentation, consults with Medical Director and Administrative Director on regulatory compliance updates
- Participates in the administrative and budgetary operations of the section
The Laboratory Supervisor role might be for you if you:
- Have previous experience in Laboratory leadership at a high-volume healthcare facility
- Have previous experience working in a Blood Bank
- Excellent customer service
- Outstanding communication skills including verbal and written
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a Bachelor of Science or Medical Technology degree and Minimum of 3 years experience as a medical technologist. ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
