JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, Surgeon and Anesthesia provider the Perinatal Technician performs various direct and indirect patient care activities in accordance with the Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Perinatal Technician is able to assist with the care of any hospitalized patient and a variety of functions related to patient registration, guest relations, order entry and supply management. The Perinatal LNA II/Technician assists surgeons by scrubbing for cesarean section cases and performs a variety of other duties related to preparing for the surgical patient and maintaining the OR environment. These duties are primarily performed in the Women and Children’s Unit and Perioperative Services and upon request in other nursing units in the hospital.
EDUCATION:
Requires graduation from high school or equivalent. Certificate of completion from an approved Nurse Assistant training course.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Current license to practice as a nursing assistant (LNA) in the State of Vermont. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of previous experience as Licensed Nursing Assistant is required.
