Description THE POSITION: Under general direction, plans, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises the public permit processing center activities and staff, emphasizing consistency in service delivery and excellent customer service; organizes, assigns, and reviews the work of assigned staff engaged in providing information and direction to the public on related planning, building, land development and permitting services; monitors process steps to support service deliverables and timelines; provides process recommendations to maintain quality services and efficient operations; and performs special projects or other work as required.

Essential Duties : Supervises staff by assisting with training, planning, assigning, and reviewing work; Responds to inquiries and makes final decisions regarding difficult customer complaints requiring a thorough knowledge of rules, practices, and policies; Coordinates permit services activities with other City departments, divisions, and sections, and with outside agencies; Oversees the acceptance, review, and processing of complex building, land use, and right-of-way permit applications for compliance with codes, regulations, and city requirements; Provides technical expertise and guidance to staff, applicants, and the public regarding permit processes, requirements, and timelines; Monitors compliance with applicable building codes, zoning codes, ordinances, and internal policies. Minimum QualificationsApplications will be accepted

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in business or public administration or related field; AND
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative or program technical experience in related field, which include one (1) year of lead work or supervisory experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described job duties.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment background investigation.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE: Strong supervisory/leadership skills with expertise in permitting for planning, building processes, customer service, and process improvement.
