Summary
Security Officers provide protection of work site, personnel, and assets from events such as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents, to include responsibility for highly regulated access control, in Anchorage, AK at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
This is a seasonal position, working a rotational schedule of 1 week on/1week off and 12 hours/day (day or night shift), and does not include benefits.
This seasonal position has potential to evolve into a full-time permanent position and is a great opportunity to gain experience in Security!
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Must be at least 19 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge upon hire
- Must be able to pass an initial background check (public records)
- Able to proficiently speak, read, understand, and write English
- Possess or be able to attain State of Alaska Unarmed Security Guard license before starting work
- Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests.
- Must be able to pass the Company's pre-employment screening process, including drug screen, criminal background investigation and post-offer physical/functional capacity evaluation.
- Preferred, but not required, one (1) year of work experience with a municipal, state, or federal law enforcement agency, military police unit, corrections activity, or private security company within the past five years.
- Fluent in a second language
- Working in a team environment, performing roving foot patrols to ensure the safe maneuvering of pedestrians and vehicles on the departure and arrival curbsides during times of heavy traffic congestion.
- Assisting drivers with information on areas to park, wait, accessing airport services, and help with locating their party.
- Reporting all questionable activity to the supervisor and local law enforcement.
- Visually, electronically and/or audibly monitors a variety of assigned areas, or grounds by working in a variety of assignments which may include, but are not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, stationary checkpoints, and other locations deemed appropriate
- Examines and verifies personnel credentials and vehicle placarding to ensure that access is authorized
- Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance
- Verbally de-escalates situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers and clients
- Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the facility to determine they are secure
- Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc.in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators
- Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol
- Notifies on site individuals of visitors wishing to see them
- May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs
- May issue and record ID badges
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.
- Noise level: Moderate to Loud
- Description of environment: This is a public aviation facility.
- Must constantly be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch.
