    This position is located in the Uniform Services Bureau (USB). The Rapid Response Team (RRT) is a team of officers that provide daily response capabilities throughout Capitol Grounds. This dedicated Response Team enhances the Bureau's ability to protect and secure Congress, ensuring they can fulfill their Constitutional responsibilities. The RRT maintains a strong visible presence on Capitol Grounds, responding to calls for service, planned and unplanned demonstrations, and conducting foundation checks of all Congressional lots, parks and buildings.

    Note: Multiple vacancies exist. The number of positions will be determined by the needs of the Department. The selection list will be active for a period of one (I) year from the date of approval of the selection memorandum unless an applicant withdraws in writing his/her application to the Office of Human Resources (OHR).

    Must be a current USCP sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and must have attained the rank of Private with Training and successfully completed the probationary period by the closing date of this announcement. Bicycle Response Unit (BRU) Training Certificate must be included.

    Qualifications

    1. Must be a sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and must have attained the rank of Private with Training and successfully completed the probationary period by the closing date of this announcement.

    2. Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection.

    3. Must be available to work flexible hours,

    rotating shifts, and possible midnight assignments.

    4. Must be in the USB Special Response Group (SRG) Program by the closing date of this announcement.

    5. Must have successfully completed the Bicycle Response Unit (BRU) training. Certificate must be included with application.

    Education

    There is no education substitution for experience in this series and/or grade.

    Additional information

    Applications and supporting documentation must be received by the closing date of the announcement to receive consideration. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions. This position is included in a collective bargaining unit. An applicant may request to be removed from consideration by sending a written request to the OHR. RETENTION CRITERIA 1. Successfully complete all required training associated with assignment to RRT. 2. Must successfully complete a probationary period of one year in the RRT.
