    Firefighter

    Supervision for all personnel is maintained by the organizational command structure, and defined by rank under the appropriate job description. Under the supervision of a Lieutenant the primary responsibility of Firefighter is to protect life and property utilizing technicalskills and is capable of utilizing the most modern equipment, methods, and techniques to undertake the full range of services with which the fire service is called upon to deal.

    This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

    Medical Employee Only - In Network deductible $1000

    Employee portion = $40.37 per pay period (24) or $968.88 annually

    City portion = $363.34 per pay period (24) or $8,720.16 (90% of cost)

    Medical Employee + Family - In Network deductible $3,000

    Employee portion = $96.09 per pay period (24) or $2,306.16 annually

    City portion = $808.20 per pay period (24) or $20,754.72 (90% of cost)

    Sick Accrual 96 hours annually (2912 Fire Service accrues 134.4 annually)

    (at 20 years with separation get 50% of sick leave balance)

    11 paid holidays

    Physical Examination Leave – 4 hours annually

    Bereavement Leave

    Voting Leave – 1 hour

    Tuition Assistance – job related 100% of tuition cost reimbursed
