    Salary Range: $39.70 - $57.08/hour | $82,576 - $118,726 annually

    Minimum Qualifications

    Training - High school graduate or GED, with some college credit from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience - Experience that demonstrates the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities for the position. Previous experience in law enforcement and Colorado POST certification is preferred.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be at least 21 years of age. Cannot have been convicted of a felony or a disqualifying misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. Preferred current and valid Certified Jail Officer (CJO) and/or Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification or ability to obtain. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer tests in addition to the interview(s): CVSA (Computerized Voice Stress Analyzer), driving records check, typing/data entry test, background examination, medical examination, psychological examination, drug screening and fingerprint check through CBI/FBI. Ability to meet Department's physical standards.

    Working Conditions

    The working environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works in an indoor environment, but will occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is required to wear body armor while performing the duties of this job. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. Work involves a significant amount of time spent inside a Detention Center with a high degree of danger inherent in working with career criminals and emotionally unstable persons. Working conditions can be highly stressful. This position also involves shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; hear; stand; walk; run; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, night vision and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands category is classified as Very Heavy (Exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects). Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
