    POLICE OFFICER

    SOUTH PARK TOWNSHIP

    Qualified persons are invited to apply to South Park Township to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Police Officer with the South Park Township Police Department.

    General Requirements:

    Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Must be Act 120 Certified or able to complete PA Act 120 training and pass the final exam. The Township is offering police academy tuition assistance and $30.00 per hour while attending the academy. (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Successful applicants to establish their primary residency within a radius of ten (10) air miles of the Township Building, within six (6) months after successfully completing the probationary period. The starting salary for the position is $67,866.00 and is accompanied by a generous benefit package.

    Tattoo Restrictions (arm sleeves must be covered) – no tattoos on hand, neck or facial area. No visible piercings or ear plugs are permitted.

    In addition, successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Township's Hiring Policy that includes a background investigation and polygraph test, and if selected, be required to successfully pass physical and psychological examinations.

    An application package including the application form and physical agility requirements (waiver form) may be obtained at the South Park Township Building, located at 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park, PA 15129. A completed application must be filed before 4:00 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Township Building address, as noted above. Please include “ATTN: Karen Fosbaugh, Township Manager” on the envelope.

    The physical agility test will be conducted at the Allegheny County Police Academy, located at 700 West Ridge Drive (North Park), Allison Park, PA 15101 on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Candidates are to arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. The written exam will be conducted at the same location immediately following the physical agility test. Photo ID is required for both tests.
