    Deputy Sheriff - Lateral Police Officer

    The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), founded in 1803, is Ohio's third-largest sheriff's office. HCSO has approximately 900 employees dedicated to ensuring the safety of nearly one million residents who call Hamilton County Home.

    We are looking for experienced police officers from OH, KY and IN for full-time Patrol Section positions. Our agency is progressive, and we practice evidence-based and research-based policing strategies to reduce crime and control disorder. These strategies include intelligence-led policing, problem-oriented policing, community-oriented policing, crime analysis, and intelligence analysis. Enforcement Officers have a very wide range of opportunities for training, specialization, and personal growth.

    Job Duties: (Illustrative only. Any one position within this classification may not include all the tasks listed, nor do the listed examples include all the tasks that might be performed.)

    • Patrols County areas as assigned, conducting patrol activities by protecting the life and property of citizens, enforcing State motor vehicle laws and criminal laws; maintains high visibility and is alert to criminal activities per information furnished by radio communication, observation, and other sources.
    • Conducts proactive patrols, increases crime prevention awareness within his or her patrol area, and regularly develops contact with citizens.
    • Prepares and submits electronic reports pertaining to crimes, incidents, activities, and other violations.
    • Responds as directed to scenes of traffic accidents; keeps bystanders out of danger; safeguards property as required; gives assistance to injured persons as required; investigates conditions and the cause of the accident.
    • Investigate public complaints.
    • May appear and testify in court on traffic, criminal or civil cases.
    • As assigned, safeguards crime scenes and preserves physical evidence relating to various crimes.
    • Performs related duties as required and assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Valid and active Ohio (OPOTA) Peace Officer Certification with no more than 1-year break in service.
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
    • Working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; Federal, State, and local laws; law enforcement practices and procedures; safety and security practices and procedures; public relations; court processes and procedures.
    • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must be able to complete our background check process successfully.

    Salary:

    $5,000 Sign-on BONUS!!!! Paid out after successful completion of probationary period.

    $69,596.80 for less than 1 year

    $73,275.89 for 1 year

    $76,919.13 for 2 years

    $81,165.69 for 3 years

    $90,625.60 for 4 years
