V2X is seeking an experienced Chemical Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Instructor to support the Defense ThreatReduction Agency (DTRA) in building chemical security and CBRN capabilities across Southeast Asia. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will deliver training, workshops, and exercises for government, law enforcement, regulatory, and technical audiences in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and other regional partners as directed.
Chemical Security events are typically 5-day events supporting 25 attendees. You will serve on a team of Domain Instructors, covering seven Chemical Security Program Domains: (chemical security management, deterrence, detection, delay, response, mitigation & recovery, forensics/attribution). This role is ideal for a senior CBRN / chemical security professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and working in multinational environments.
Job Description:
• Design, develop, and deliver classroom training, workshops, Train the Trainer (T3) events, and exercises (TTX/CPX/FTX) aligned with the DTRA Chemical Security Program.
• Develop Programs of Instruction (POIs), curricula, slide decks, instructor guides, student materials, scenarios, and assessments using a structured instructional design methodology (e.g., ADDIE).
• Teach a range of Chemical Security topics, including WMD/CBRN concepts, chemical lifecycle management, Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Lab operations, inventory control, fixed site and transportation security, CONOPS/SOP development, sampling and forensics, chain of custody, incident response, decontamination, and consequence management.
• Deliver scenario based, vignette driven training using simulation tools and region-specific examples tailored to partner nation contexts.
• Design and implement Train the Trainer and Take-Home packages.
• Mentor host nation governmental institutions to build sustainable in country Chemical Security Program.
• Conduct capability and training needs assessments.
• Plan, support, and participate in regional symposiums.
• Build and maintain relationships with partner nation stakeholders (ministries, law enforcement, labs, regulators, academia) and U.S. Government counterparts (DTRA, U.S. Embassies, other implementers).
• Experience working on international capacity building or security cooperation programs, preferably in developing or semi permissible environments.
• Willingness and ability to be based in Kuala Lumpur and travel frequently (approx. 50–70%) throughout Southeast Asia.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
MS Office products, Generative AI, instructional materials.
Working Environment:
Office and classroom environment, limited field time supporting chemical security hands on exercises. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malasia with travel to Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Physical Activities:
Light lifting, ability to navigate public transportation.
Education & Certifications:
• Bachelor of Science preferably in Chemistry, Forensic Science, CBRN related field, Security Studies, or closely related discipline.
Experience:
• 8–10 years of experience in chemical security, CBRN defense, hazardous materials management, chemical forensics, or related fields.
• Platform Instructor Experience.
• Desired: DTRA, Military, DHS, FBI, DoS, Interagency experience
