    Law Enforcement And Protection Position

    Provides law enforcement and protection to the citizens of Tarrant County by performing duties that include but are not limited to search and seizures, investigations, and other jail functions requiring powers of arrest necessary to safely house fugitives in accordance with statute, policy and procedure.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include:

    • Locates fugitives through background investigations, using computers and office equipment where applicable, updating information and developing informants.
    • Conducts surveillance when necessary, apprehend or cause apprehension of fugitives.
    • Intrastate and interstate transportation of prisoners.
    • Gives court testimony in extradition hearings and in cases filed locally.
    • Advises procedure of laws and recommend alternatives concerning disposition of criminal cases.
    • Maintains issued equipment and personal demeanor consistent with departmental rules and procedures.
    • Prepares daily and monthly reports accurately to provide correct data for status.
    • Assists and cooperates with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and supervisors.
    • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum requirements include:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Must have a Texas Basic Peace Officer Certification and two (2) years of related law enforcement experience.
    • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and/or obtain a license within 30 days.
    • Must be willing to work nights, evenings, overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

    Physical demands and work environment include:

    While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift, push and pull. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, evenings and nights. There is exposure to household type cleaning agents (such as diluted bleach, alcohol based window cleaner, chlorine based cleanser); and occasional exposure to pesticides. There is occasional exposure to inmate control devices that emit pepper agents via aerosol spray, gel or foam. There is the potential of exposure to toxic smoke.
