As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you would be an essential part of a team of professionals that make our Parks and Resorts safe, sustainable, and brimming with Disney "magic."Being a Senior Fire Systems Engineer at Disney is different, not only because of the variety of systems and projects, but also because our engineers are called upon to be thought-partners at the very early stages of development, and are empowered to act for ongoing projects and maintenance.At Disney, the scope of a Senior Fire Systems Engineers work is remarkable. Every day as a Senior Fire Systems Engineer is different! On any given day, you might provide expertise in the following areas:1. Fire protection2. Life safety3. Building and fire codes4. Fire hazard and risk assessment of materials and processes5. Fire and smoke spread6. Industrial fire hazards7. Fire investigation supportYou will report to the Manager of the Sustaining TeamResponsibilities :The primary responsibilities will be in providing fire protection engineering support for all lines of business at the Disney World Parks and Resorts for capital projects and for facility sustaining engineering support.Work on a variety of facility assets that support amusement facilitiesSystems accountabilities include:Fire detection and alarmAutomatic sprinklerWater-based fire protection systems including water supplies and fire pumpsSmoke control and smoke management systemsMeans of egress, exiting, and emergency movement of people and crowds in public assemblyCommercial cooking fire protectionSpecial hazards fire protection systems, life safety systems, building automation and controlsExplosion protectionYou will operate in an environment of diverse general engineering knowledge in other areas such as codes, hazardous materials storage, use, and handling; gas alarm systems; elevator, conveyance, and ride safety; pyrotechnics; OSHA and general safetyJob tasks for the Senior Fire Systems Engineer include:Field engineering support; technical input for inspection, testing, and maintenanceInvestigation, root cause and failure analysisDesign systems including calculations, drawings, and submittalsReview system designs developed by project design teams for accuracy, compliance with Walt Disney World standards and guiding principles, quality and completenessRecommend system improvements, enhancements and replacements.Proactively interface and consult with Walt Disney World lines of business, engineering services teams, and project managers to provide world class engineering supportBasic Qualifications :In-depth knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA Codes and StandardsWorking knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit7+ years of experience in fire protection design related work or fire protection consultingProfessional Engineer LicensePreferred Qualifications :Specific experience with theme parks, resort hotels, and mixed-use facilitiesKnowledge in the application of computer modeling tools for fire and smoke spread and timed egress analysis (CFD, PyroSim, Pathfinder)Experience with codes and standards development, including committee involvement (e.g. NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, FBC)Experience with fire testing and regulatory application of fire test methods to building materialsExperience with testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systemsRequired Education :Bachelors Degree in Fire Protection Engineering Or Engineering with Experience in Fire Protection EngineeringPreferred Education :Masters Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related fieldAdditional Information :Benefits and Perks: Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
