Qualifications/Knowledge: Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act. Knowledge of modern firefighting techniques and equipment. Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to the control and prevention of fires. Knowledge of Department and County policies and procedures and Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Knowledge of the capabilities and uses of emergency vehicles and equipment. Skill in operating emergency vehicles and equipment. Skill in the use of radio/communications equipment. Skill in planning, organization and decision making. Skill in oral and written communication.
Requirements Responds to fire alarms and uses firefighting skills to evaluate and carry out actions to most efficiently control the emergency at hand; assists with the fighting of structural fires. Operates a variety of pumps, ladders, hoses and other equipment at the scene of fire, rescue and other emergency incidents. Performs initial patient screening and provides emergency medical care as needed. Completes required reports detailing fire responses. Completes required training and maintains required certifications. Inspects equipment to ensure that it is in proper working order; washes and cleans equipment on a regular basis; repairs and performs routine maintenance on equipment. Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies aboard emergency vehicles; conducts regular inspections. Provides fire prevention information to the public; assists in teaching fire safety and other classes; provides tours of the fire station. Performs housekeeping, grounds keeping and building maintenance duties. Conducts station and apparatus tours for school and other community groups. Participates in public education events. Conducts pre-incident planning on commercial and residential structures as requested.
