This is professional and community oriented work in the prevention of crime and enforcement of local, state, and federal laws. Duties involve protection of life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances, performance of routine patrol duties, investigation ofcrimes and accidents, and traffic enforcement; all within established departmental guidelines. Duties involve constant public contact in the performance of work while tolerating stressful situations. Must provide quality service to the public without losing sight of what laws have to be enforced.

1. Must meet one of the following criteria
2. Must be a citizen of the United States.
3. High school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.
4. Height in proportion to weight as determined by a physical examination.
5. Uncorrected vision correctable to 20/20 vision by contact lenses; no greater than 20/40 vision correctable to 20/20 with glasses. Must not be colorblind.
6. No prior felony convictions (includes expunged convictions).
7. Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
8. In good physical and mental health, free from impediments of the senses and possess all extremities.
9. Must meet hearing standard as established by MCOLES.
