    Traffic Specialist IV - 55005100

    The work you will do includes performing engineering review and analysis, developing engineering reports and associated documents, coordinating with department staff and external agencies, assisting in development and management of professional and contractual services contracts, providing review comments on plan submittals, participating in meetings and presentations, and providing useful commentary and review of work products.

    The successful candidate will have knowledge of traffic engineering concepts, principles, and analytical techniques, the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Florida Department of Transportation standards, traffic data collection techniques, problem solving, use of personal computers and engineering software, communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, design standards, and manuals, apply engineering concepts, practices and functions, input and retrieve information from a computer database, collect, analyze, and interpret engineering data, work independently and make decisions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

    Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and four years of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience; an associate of arts or science degree in engineering technology and two years of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience; a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering technology and one year of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience; successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and has an Engineer in Trainee (EIT) certification in either Florida or another State; or an active International Municipal and Signal Association (IMSA) Sign and Pavement Marking certification.
