    General Summary

    The Campus Police Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive law enforcement, security, and emergency response services to protect the life, safety, and property of the Odessa College community. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment conducive to learning, working, and community engagement.

    Specific Position Duties
    • Conduct routine and proactive patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, and grounds to deter criminal activity and ensure a visible security presence.
    • Enforce applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as institutional policies and regulations.
    • Provide security and crowd control at campus functions, events, and activities as requested.
    • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, incidents, alarms, and calls for service, providing assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
    • Prepare accurate and detailed reports of incidents, investigations, and daily activities.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with local, state, and county law enforcement agencies and emergency responders when necessary.
    • Assist with investigations, evidence handling, and follow-up as required.
    • Support campus safety initiatives, including crime prevention efforts and community outreach.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Police to support departmental and institutional goals.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED required; current certification as a peace officer required.
    • Must demonstrate high moral character, professionalism, and a strong knowledge of law enforcement practices, as verified through references and a comprehensive background investigation.
    • Ability to successfully pass the Work Steps physical assessment for police officers and maintain appropriate physical fitness standards throughout employment is required.
    • Must meet institutional requirements to operate a motor vehicle as an authorized driver.
    • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.
    • Candidates must demonstrate reliability, dependability, and punctuality.


    Preferred Qualifications
