The
Economic Development Department (EDD) seeks an enterprising, self-motivated professional to fill the
Economic Development Coordinator II - Graphic Design & Marketing* vacancy. The Economic Development Coordinator II plays a key role in advancing the County’s Vision by connecting businesses with opportunities, tools, people, and resources that support and promote their growth and success. Key responsibilities include cultivating strong working relationships with stakeholders; coordinating and implementing economic development projects; providing technical assistance and resources; assisting with marketing strategies and developing visually compelling materials; conducting studies and research; analyzing legislation and making recommendations; monitoring contracts; and representing the County at various functions.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Developing marketing materials, presentations, graphics, and digital content to support economic development initiatives and outreach efforts
- Utilizing graphic design, AI tools, and creative software to produce visual renderings, promotional materials, and communications content
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting economic, demographic, market, and industry data to support projects, planning, and business development activities
- Preparing reports, presentations, proposals, and briefing materials for leadership, stakeholders, and diverse audiences
- Utilizing GIS and mapping tools to analyze spatial data, support site selection activities, and create visual project materials
- Supporting branding, marketing, social media, website content, and public outreach campaigns to promote regional economic development efforts
- Coordinating and supporting meetings, events, workshops, and special projects with internal departments, business partners, and community organizations
- Maintaining project files, databases, digital assets, and related project tracking and reporting systems
Economic Development Coordinator II is the more experienced trainee-level of the series, handling projects of medium complexity within the project team, and taking responsibility for components of larger projects, while developing the skills and acquiring the experience necessary to promote to Economic Development Coordinator III .

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background check, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates). A clean driving record and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Promotion: Incumbents in the class of Economic Development Coordinator II are eligible for promotion to Economic Development Coordinator III ($87,339.20 - $120,224.00 annually) upon meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher classification and receipt of a satisfactory work progress report. Promotion to the higher classification is upon the recommendation of the appointing authority. Employees must qualify for promotion within eighteen (18) months or be terminated.
Minimum Requirements Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in public or business administration, economic development, finance, marketing, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field.
- AND - Experience: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent professional experience in economic or business development, real estate/commercial development, marketing, public relations, or graphic design.
Substitution: A master's degree in a qualifying area may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Note:
Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at the college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in an economic development agency with a strong understanding of industry trends and business development strategies. Experience creating clear, v isually engaging materials using marketing and graphic design techniques, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analytics, and/or AI-generated renderings is highly desired.
