This position supports a federal-focused general contractor delivering construction projects within secure and mission-critical facilities. The organization operates with a small, experienced field team, allowing Superintendents to lead the work directly, make decisions in the field, and work closely with ownership and federal representatives.
Projects in the Great Lakes area include facility renovations, building envelope upgrades, interior construction, utilities, and infrastructure work performed in controlled and often occupied environments. Travel packages or relocation assistance are available for qualified candidates who are not local.
This role is best suited for a senior Federal Construction Superintendent who understands federal processes, documentation, and jobsite execution.
Position Overview
The Federal Construction Superintendent will serve as the day to day field leader, responsible for coordinating construction activities, subcontractors, and schedules while ensuring compliance with contract documents, quality standards, and federal safety requirements.
Assignments are primarily based in Great Lakes, IL, with flexibility for candidates requiring travel or relocation support.
Project Environment and Exposure
Projects may include a mix of facility upgrades and renovations, exterior envelope work, interior construction, utility and infrastructure upgrades, and electrical service work. All work is performed within active, occupied, or secure federal facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily field operations and subcontractor coordination
Maintain construction schedules and sequencing
Ensure work complies with contract documents and federal requirements
Coordinate with the QCM and SSHO on quality and safety matters
Communicate with project management and government representatives
Required Qualifications
7 plus years of experience as a Superintendent in federal construction
Strong understanding of federal construction processes and documentation
Experience coordinating multiple trades on complex projects
Working knowledge of EM 385 1 1 and OSHA safety standards
Ability to lead work in secure or occupied federal environments
