Start Date: April 27th, 2026/ppAll positions work the MISD school calendar/ppWe offer 3 distinct positions when available:/pulli***Elementary School SSO - Assigned to one specific school./liliMonday-Friday 7:45am - 3:45pm/lili**Sports and Events SSO - Conducts Bag Checks and Screenings at Middle High School sporting events/liliTypically- Thursday Fridays 4:00pm- 9:00pm and Saturdays, time varies./lili*Flex SSO - On call daily, able to work in the Elementary Schools or Sporting Events./li/ulpMajor Duties and Responsibilities:/pulliLaw Enforcement:/liliMust respond to an active threat on campus within a timely manner under a variety of circumstances./liliPatrol school grounds for students, faculty, and visitor safety./liliPerform daily safety security perimeter checks of campus property and work close with MISD police officer./liliAssist administration with complaints concerning unauthorized people on campus./liliAssist with directing vehicles during student drop off and pick up times in the campus parking lots. Investigate and identify suspicious persons and/or vehicles./liliEscort district personnel in potentially hostile situations and assist staff with after-hour functions upon their request./liliAssist the Transportation Department with problem bus stop areas and/or chronic disruptions on school buses upon their request./liliCompletes and maintains proficiency in all requirements and training for Texas Level III Commission./liliReports/Records:/liliWrite effective legal incident reports, collect evidence as necessary for supporting criminal investigations and apprehend offenders./liliOther:/liliTake such other actions within the guidelines set forth in the Post Orders as deemed necessary./liliMaintain firearms proficiency./liliPerform other duties as assigned./li/ulpQualifications/Skills:/pulliEducation/Certification:/liliAt the time of application, MUST possess a current ACTIVE Texas Level III Commissioned Armed Security License/liliAll applicants are expected to own their own 9mm firearm with a Level 3 holster, before they can start work. There are restrictions on Make and Model, please inquire about type./liliAll applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 21 years of age./liliCandidates will go through stringent background checks and training and must pass, as a condition of the hiring process./liliValid Class C Driver License with acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation./liliSocial Security Card/liliDrivers License (front and back)/liliProof of Education: High School Diploma or Transcript, GED Certificate or College Transcript (If transcripts, a sealed original will be required at background investigation stage)/liliDD-214 Military Discharge form (if applicable) (copy of original Member -4 Form)/liliQualified applicants must pass a drug test./liliAll applicants must pass firearms qualifications./liliAll candidates must be of good moral character and able to communicate with the public./liliDemonstrates ability to work effectively with youth as well as adults./liliExperience:/liliThree (3) years of Commissioned Armed Security employment is highly preferred./liliMinimum three (3) years of full-time peace officer position highly preferred./liliPrior Law Enforcement highly preferred/liliHonorably discharged from US Military highly preferred./liliSchool Safety officer experience highly preferred./liliMental Demands:/liliMaintain emotional control under stress./liliWork with frequent interruptions./liliThis position requires regular in-person interaction with the public./liliPhysical Demands:/liliContinual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling./liliFrequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying./liliMust be able to climb stairs./liliMust be able to wear a Ballistic Vest and Duty Belt with firearm for a whole 8hr shift./liliMust be able to work an 8hr shift WITHOUT SMOKING OR VAPING./liliOvertime as needed./liliEnvironmental Factors:/liliMay have exposure to rain or extreme hot and cold temperatures./li/ulpThis description portrays in general terms the type and level(s) of work performed and is not intended to be all-inclusive, nor the specific duties of any one incumbent.
