    POSITION SUMMARY

    Provide Armed Security Guard services at the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey

    PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION:

    • $29.22/hour Regular Pay Rate
    • $5.56/hour Health and Welfare Pay Rate

    Responsibilities

    • Provide security protection and access control for all government property, classified material, and personnel within assigned areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, theft, or intentional destruction.
    • Report/respond to unusual or emergency situations.
    • Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiate the appropriate actions.
    • Control ingress/egress into and/or out of posted/controlled/security areas.
    • Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.
    • Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all security and guard orders, written and oral, pertaining to the assigned duties.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Duties require lifting more than 10 pounds, bending twisting, standing and some activities that involve standing for long periods of time, often without breaks
    • Requires conducting foot patrols and response to alarms in varied weather conditions. 90% of the
    • work will require some sort of physical activity
    • frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects/gear
    • Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels.
    • May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather (hot and cold)
    • Subject to high noise levels
    • Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving
    • mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to
    • chemicals
    • May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator
    • May be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain

    Qualifications

    • US Citizenship is required
    • High School education or GED
    • At least 21 years old
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
    • Two (2) years' prior work experience in armed security or equivalent in the military or law enforcement
    • Effective oral and written communication ability
    • NJ driver's license
    • NJ State Armed Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) license
    • NJ State Firearms Permit to Carry
    • Physically fit and in good general health without any physical defects or abnormalities, able to perform guard duties and pass a physical abilities test
    • Ability to handle office related material such as, computer equipment, printout paper, notebooks, ledgers, badge printer.
    • Must be able to obtain a Department of Homeland Security Suitability certification.
