The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police Division (CPD) and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE). The mission of the Department is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state.
DPS is currently accepting applications for multiple Public Safety Cadets for candidates who are interested in attending the 123rd Trooper School, which is expected to start January 10, 2027. Cadets are responsible for monitoring security at the DPS Headquarters Building and complex, as well as other state-owned locations in Atlanta, as needed. This position is perfect for candidates who are ready to start their career at DPS prior to the anticipated start of the 123rd Trooper School January 10, 2027. The application period for the 123rd Trooper School is now open and will close on July 26, 2026. Applicants for the Georgia State Patrol Cadet position must apply to the 123rd Trooper School, attend a PT and continue in the process for the 123rd Trooper School.
