  • Summary

    Essex North Shore is seeking its first Marine Instructor ("MI") for the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps ("MCJROTC") Program. The MI will assist in managing and executing the MCJROTC program, providing classroom instruction, and supporting co-curricular activities that promote leadership, discipline, and academic achievement in accordance with U.S. Marine Corps and district policies. This is a 12-month, year round position, with summer responsibilities that include working in the local community - community service, coordinating with cadets and families, and supporting camps, competitions, and other MCJROTC activities.

    Bilingual preferred.

    CORI, SORI, and SAFIS required.

    Salary in accordance with the JROTC Standardized Instructor Pay Scale (JSIPS). Number is posted for reference.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be a High School graduate; must obtain an Associate's degree within five years (Bachelor's degree preferred).
    • Must be certified as a Marine Corps JROTC Instructor by the Marine Corps Training and Education Command.
    Must meet one of the following Marine Corps service categories:

    Category I - Non-commissioned Officers (E-5 through E-9) with 18 or more years of active duty service.

    Category II - Reserve Non-commissioned Officers with 20 years of honorable service.

    Category III - Non-commissioned Officers with 8 or more years of active duty service, separated no more than 5 years from active duty.

    Category IV - Active Reserve Non-commissioned Officers.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist in the administration and execution of the MCJROTC program, ensuring alignment with Marine Corps guidelines and school district policies.
    • Deliver instruction to cadets using the Marine Corps-approved Program of Instruction (POI).
    • Support the development of co-curricular teams, including drill, rifle, raider, academic, and cyber teams.
    • Help maintain and monitor the accountability of all MCJROTC equipment and materials.
    • Participate in and assist with public affairs efforts, engaging the local community, middle schools, elementary schools, and civic groups to promote the program.
    • Assist in the organization of school events, competitions, and community service activities, including weekend duties as required.
    • Collaborate with the SMI, school officials, and parents to support cadet development and address academic or behavioral issues.
    • Promote post-secondary education opportunities and assist cadets with scholarship applications.
    • Help foster a cadet-led learning environment while ensuring shared teaching responsibilities among instructors.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
