Description Election judges are essential to our democracy, as they are responsible for the administration of election procedures in the polling place. Election judges help to guarantee the rights of voters are protected and ensure the election process is fair, accurate and in accordance with election laws. Serving on a team of election judges is a wonderful, rewarding experience
Examples of Duties- Open and close the polls (6 am to 9 pm or later)
- Take responsibility for all election materials
- Ensure qualified voters are permitted to vote only once
- Distribute ballots
- Use electronic pollpad equipment
- Help voters requiring assistance
- Maintain order in the voting place throughout the day
- Register new voters at the polling site
- Obtain the results after the polls are closed
- Certify the precinct election results
- Return supplies to Wright County Election Department

Supplemental Information Training Sessions All judges, even those who have served in prior elections, are required to complete training. Several training sessions will be scheduled by the Wright County Elections Office in the summer of election years. You will need computer access to complete the training.

Precincts are open from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on election day with closing activity following. You may work in a precinct other than the one your reside in. Are you willing to work for the entire day?

Are you interested in being a Head Judge? This requires extra training and you will be required to work the whole day.

To ensure fair and honest election results, if selected to serve as an Election Judge, I will adhere to the following:• I will arrive at my assigned polling place at the assigned time and remain until my assigned time or excused by the Head Judge.• I agree to be courteous, respectful, and to assist all voters, regardless of national origin, physical challenge, or efficiency in the English language.• I agree to attend the Election Judge Training so that I am prepared to fulfill my assigned responsibilities to conduct the election according to Federal, State, and local election laws and policies.• I understand that we are responsible for the security of election equipment and supplies, and I will handle and monitor all such equipment and supplies as instructed.• I agree to complete all documentation required by Federal, State, and local election laws for my assigned position's responsibilities as accurately and completely as possible.• I agree to report immediately to the Head Judge any malfunction or possible tampering of voting equipment, unusual or suspicious behavior occurring in the polling room or any other event or occurrence that may threaten the accurate gathering or sanctity of the vote.• I will refrain from making personal and political opinion comments while serving as an Election Judge.• I certify that all information I have provided on this application is correct and that I have not omitted any information.
