    Firefighter

    Under the direction of an assigned Fire Captain, performs responsible duties in the suppression of fires; maintains fire department equipment, apparatuses and facilities; provides emergency medical care for sick and injured individuals.

    The Reserve Firefighter class performs routine fire suppression and firehouse maintenance duties at an assigned facility. This class is not a full time class and incumbents are called in to supplement the regular workforce as needed.

    Education and Experience/ Licenses and Other Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

    Valid California Class C Driver's License. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate issued by an EMS authority agency and/or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician certification within one year of employment.

    Supplemental Information

    A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
