Assists Commandant of Cadets with program development, administration and oversight of staff and cadets for the Oklahoma Youth Challenge Program, a voluntary 22-week residential, quasi-military program for at-risk youth ages 16-18.
Supervisor level
A Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree and/or 4 years equivalent experience with youth program management. Senior military leadership experience preferred (NCO or Officer). Experience in operating, managing an organization. Experience working with youth required; Examples include working directly with at-risk youth, or related experience such as youth services, coaching, military, education or law enforcement.
Knowledge of youth counseling techniques, human behavior identification, crisis intervention and deviant behavior; methods and techniques to promote physical health, skills, and self-esteem. Computer based skills to work on internet as needed. Must be fluent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs in order to efficiently complete written communications and reports.
Licenses/Certificates required: Possession of or ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of employment and the official Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement within one year of hire date.
Physical Requirements: Ability to guide, lead and instruct physical training to include road marches, calisthenics, strength, and endurance training. Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 15 pounds. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Ability to withstand extreme temperatures and standing for long periods.
