    Summary of Responsibilities Enforces federal, state and local laws by serving legal documents, patrolling, apprehending suspects, serving civil process, responding to service calls. May assist in detention and transport. Performs investigations and searches, write reports and provide testimony in court. Administers educational programs in various community-oriented programs. Assist in crowd control and traffic direction. Responds to calls for assistance, disasters, manhunts and other duties as he/she may be assigned.Provides service, information, and aid to all citizens as circumstances require; prevents crime and suppresses disturbances; investigates criminal offenses; arrest offenders.Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety, and welfare of citizens and property under the jurisdiction of the county.Essential Responsibilities and Functions Exercises independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, rules, and regulations, and by departmental policies and procedures.Preserves the peace, intercedes to prevent crime, and provides service, information, and directions to citizens.Arrests offenders without warrant where authorized by law.Conducts initial investigations criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals.Arrives to work on time, is prepared to perform assigned duties and work assignments schedules.Ability to work well with others.Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures.Serves warrants, capias, court orders and other legal processes; locates and arrests persons wanted on warrants or court orders.Participates in work involving juveniles, making preliminary and/or detailed investigation and follow‑up, referring such cases as needed to Juvenile Court.The physical demands and environmental factors listed as well as regular attendance are also essential functions for this position.Performs related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong computer skills.Ability to work independently under general direction.Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees, elected officials, the general public, and persons in various levels of crisis.Good problem solving skills.Strong administrative skills; organizing, prioritizing, accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to multi‑task and handle a wide variety of stressful conditions.Analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action.Must be able to work day or night hour shifts with varying days off.Minimum Qualifications Must possess Basic License from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license with acceptable driving record.Minimum two years of law enforcement patrol experience is preferred.Computer experience including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications.Good oral and written communication skills.Must be twenty‑one (21) years of age.Must have GED or high school diploma.Must successfully pass a background investigation and be of sound mind and good character.Must have working knowledge of the Texas and US Constitution, Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedures and other statutes that he/she is called upon to enforce.Salary $45,000Pre‑Employment Requirements Physical required: Yes.Drug test required: Yes.Background check required: Yes.Work Schedule / Hours Shift work required.
