  • Summary

    Supervisory Administrative Officer

    Duties include but not limited to the following:

    • Staff resource to the Service Chief, EMS Service
    • Planning, organizing, evaluating, coordinating, and implementing the complex administrative activities
    • Strategic planning and fiscal management
    • Liaison with each Approved Contractor as the Contract Officer Representative (COR)
    • Conduct projects and studies that will impact on the overall functions
    • Extensive knowledge of how to graphically present data in a succinct fashion
    • Acts as approving official and ensures that cardholders comply with Federal and VA Acquisition regulation and policies, as well as local procedures
    • Assists in orienting and advising Environmental Management Service employees on VA regulations, policies, and procedures on administration matters, and serves as a team advocate when current policies impair efficient and effective patient care
    • Monitors budget allocation and execution to ensure that operating program objectives are met
    • Monitors the use and rate of expenditure of budgeted funds in assigned fund control points, review of written documents, and examination of accounting records
    • Maintains all Office of the Chief employees' folders
    • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work
    • Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty of work and capabilities of employees
    • Evaluate work performance of subordinates
    • Give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters
    • Interview candidates for subordinate positions, recommend appointments, promotions, and reassignments
    • Hear and resolve complaints from employees, referring group grievances and serious unresolved complaints to a higher level
    • Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend action for more serious cases
    • Identify and arrange for developmental and training needs
    • Find ways to improve production and increase the quality of work

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800-1630 PST
